THIRD LEADERSHIP RETREAT OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

THIRD LEADERSHIP RETREAT OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

As is the practice, the Leadership of the National Assembly holds a retreat once a year to undertake a review of the activities of the previous Session and lay the groundwork for the upcoming or ongoing Session. The retreat is usually attended by Members of the House Business Committee, the Parliamentary Service Commission, the Presidium of the House, Leaders of the Majority and Minority Parties and other Political Party Leaderships in the House, as well as Chairpersons and Vice-Chairpersons of Committees.

This year’s retreat, which is the Third Leadership Retreat of the 12th Parliament, will be held from Tuesday, August 25 to Wednesday, August 26, 2020 under the theme, “Safeguarding the Welfare of Society amidst the Pandemic’s New Normal.” Topics that will be discussed include the Roles of Chairpersons of Parliamentary Committees, Plans for full Hybrid and Virtual Sittings of the House, and Business Resourcing, Accountability and Oversight during and post the COVID-19 Pandemic, among others. Further information on the retreat can be obtained from the attached programme.
