Today, the Senate Committee on County Public Investments and Special Funds, led by Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, delved into the issues highlighted in the Auditor General regarding the financial statements of the Lamu Water and Sewerage Company (LAWASCO) for the fiscal years 2018-2021. Lamu County Governor, Issa Timamy, attended the meeting to provide responses to the concerns raised.

Under the stewardship of Senator Godfrey Osotsi, the Senate Committee on County Public Investments and Special Funds (CPISFC) convened today with Kimani Wamatangi, Governor of Kiambu County. This summons was prompted by the Governor's failure to heed an earlier invite from the committee.

The Senate Speaker Rt Hon. Amason Jeffah Kingi EGH has supported calls to grant the County Assemblies financial autonomy saying the action will enable County Assemblies undertake their programmes in an ideal environment.

Speaker Kingi who was speaking during the official closing ceremony of the Devolution Conference at the Eldoret Sports Club in Uasin Gishu commended the County Governments comprising the Executive and the County Assemblies for their exemplary work that he said has enhanced implementation of Devolution for the benefit of Kenyans.

The Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has assured Kenyans that the Kenya Kwanza Administration will keep the trend of disbursing County Funds in time to enable Counties discharge their mandate without financial challenges.

Speaking when he presided over the closing ceremony of the Devolution Conference at Eldoret Sports Club in Uasin Gishu County, the Deputy President expressed the government`s commitment to supporting Devolution appealing to the Governors to expend those resources prudently for the benefit of Kenyans.
