The National Assembly Public Investments Committee on Commercial Affairs and Energy has grilled Family Bank Chief Executive Officer  Ms. Rebecca Mbithi over failure to recover Kshs. 45.2 Million Pasha Loans advanced to entrepreneurs to set up information hubs across the country.

The Committee led by Chairperson Hon. David Pkosing (Pokot South) met the Bank CEO, as part of an ongoing probe into circumstances leading to the onboarding of Family Bank by Information, Communication Technology Authority (ICTA) to advance the said loans on November 3, 2010.

The National Assembly Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations Committee has adopted a Report on an Inspection Visit to Kenyan Embassies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Kuwait.

The Report made a raft of recommendations to reform relations between the Embassies, the Kenyan Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Ministry and other key stakeholders in the host countries.

The National Assembly Regional Integration Committee chaired by Hon. Wanjiku Muhia (Kipipiri) has called on the State Department of Immigration and Citizen Services to clear issuance of the 88,000 pending passports.

During a meeting with the Principal Secretary of the State Department, Amb. Julius Bitok, the Members sought to know the measures the Department has put in place to ensure reduction in the backlog on issuance of passports and a reduction of the turnaround time of passport applications.

The Senate Committee on County Public Investments and Special Funds, chaired by Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, convened today to address concerns raised by the Auditor General's Report on the Financial Statements of Nithi Water and Sanitation Company Limited for the Financial Years 2018-2021. The Governor of Tharaka Nithi County, Muthomi Njuki, was invited to respond to these findings.

After reviewing the Auditor General’s Report and considering the Governor’s responses, the committee made several resolutions.

Earlier today, the Senate Health Committee, Chaired by Senator Jackson Mandago, met with the Global Fund Local Agent, PriceWaterHouseCoopers (PWC) led by their Partner Mr. Francis Muriu and with Mr. Irungu Nyakera the Chairman of the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) and his Team over the ongoing allegations of irregularities in the procurement of long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs).
