Kenya’s athletic prowess was stamped on Monday as #TeamKenya claimed the coveted 400m relay title at the ongoing East African Community (EAC) Interparliamentary Games at the Mbaraki Sports Complex in Mombasa County.

Β Led by the electrifying lawmaker, Hon. Vincent Kawaya (Mwala) the Kenyan team delivered a spectacular performance that sent fans into wild celebrations, marking a proud moment for the host nation.

Β The victory sparked patriotic chants and jubilant scenes as hundreds of supporters rallied behind their leaders-turned-athletes.

In the women's 400m relay, Uganda triumphed with an impressive first place finish, while Tanzania, Kenya and Rwanda settled for positions 2, 3 and 4, respectively.

Β The games featured intense competition across various track events, with lawmakers braving a morning downpour to thrill fans in an atmosphere of regional friendship.

Β The women’s 1500m saw Tanzania take the title through MP, Hon. Anatropia Lwehikila Theonest who took 7:03.9 followed by Uganda’s dominating performance in positions 2, 3 and 4.

Kenya placed 5th through 7th showcasing resilience amid stiff competition.

In the men’s 1500m, Uganda continued its strong showing, taking three of the top four positions, while Kenya secured 3rd and 7th.

The East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), Tanzania and Rwanda followed in the rankings.

The women’s 100m race turned into a thrilling duel as Uganda narrowly edged out Kenya’s Busia County MP, Catherine Omanyo who earned an impressive second place.

Β In the men’s category, Uganda once again edged Kenya for first place in both groups of the 100m and 400m races.

Tanzania claimed the women’s 400m title, with Uganda securing second and third place, while Burundi, Kenya and Rwanda rounded out the top six.

Β As the host country, Kenya’s athletes brought pride and energy to the games showing a fighting spirit that underscored the unity and friendly competition of the EAC.
