The Decentralized Funds Accounts Committee met to deliberate on its planned activities for the next quarter of the Financial Year 2024/2025.

Β Chaired by Mwingi Central MP, Hon. (Dr.) Gideon Mulyungi, the Committee has lined up 20 constituencies whose accounts will be examined in this quarter.

Β Citing a lack of sufficient preparation by the Constituency Funds Accounts Managers who have so-far appeared before the Committee, the MPs have called for adequate support and training of the staff on matters audit and appropriation.

Β β€œAs a committee, we are mandated to ascertain that the Funds meant for public consumption are put into relevant use. This is why it is imperative that the personnel charged with overseeing these programs are competent enough,” Hon. Mulyungi said.

Β Among the agenda for the next three months also include the writing of reports for constituencies whose accounts have already been examined by the Committee. These include among others: Webuye East, Lari, Bobasi, Tarbaj, and West Mugirango constituencies.

Β β€œWe have to crack the whip on CDF Account Managers who have failed to sufficiently respond to audit queries raised by the Auditor General,” said West Mugirango MP, Hon. Stephen Mogaka.

Β The Committee, in the previous quarter, examined reports of the Auditor General on the Financial Statements of the NG-CDF Board and the National Government Affirmative Action Funds (NGAAF) Board. It is therefore scheduled to write reports on the two. The report will be tabled before the House for debate and consideration.
