Bungoma County Senator David Wafula Wakoli is seeking a statement from the Standing Committee on Justice Legal Affairs and Human Rights on unpaid bills from the Senatorial by- elections held in December 2022 in Bungoma County.Β
In his Statement, the Senator requests the Committee to;
Table a report on the amount of resources in the form of funds and human resources allocated to conduct the Bungoma Senatorial by-election In December 2022, stating when the National Treasury and Economic Planning released the funds to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to conduct the elections.
State the reasons why service providers and poll officials have not received their payment totalling to Ksh. 216,091,675 and 83, 513,300, respectively.Β
State plans, if any, in place to ensure that poll officials and service providers receive their funds, indicating timelines and;
State the interest accrued on the unpaid bills, if any, occasioned by the failure of IEBC to pay the service providers, and poll officials within the prescribed payment date.
