PARLIAMENT OF KENYA HOSTS THE FIFTH PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SEMINAR FOR CLERKS-AT-THE-TABLE

The Parliament of Kenya is hosting the Fifth Society of Clerks-at-the-Table (SoCATT) Africa Region Professional Development Seminar, 2021 in Nairobi Kenya. The three-day long Seminar, under the theme “Promoting adaptive programming in Parliamentary settings as a response to emergency and emerging global, regional, and National challenges” was officially opened by the National Assembly Speaker Hon Justin Muturi, who is the Chairperson of the CPA Africa Region Executive Committee.

SENATE COMMITTEE ON DEVOLUTION HOSTS MPS FROM ZIMBABWE TO DISCUSS GAINS AND CHALLENGES OF DEVOLUTION

Senate Standing Committee on Devolution chaired by Homabay Senator,Hon. Moses Kajwang today met with Zimbabwe Members of  Parliament to discuss the pros and cons of devolution in Kenya with a view of adopting and recommending best practices to implement in their country. 
The members of portfolio Committee on Local Government,Public works and National housing led by Hon. Miriam Chikukwa were extensively apprised by the Senators on the gains and challenges of Devolution in Kenya since  inception in 2010. 

INAUGURAL COMMONWEALTH PARLIAMENTARIANS WITH DISABILITIES (CPwD) CONFERENCE CALLS FOR INCLUSION OF THE CPwD NETWORK AS AN ORGAN OF THE COMMONWEALTH PARLIAMENTARY ASSOCIATION

The Inaugural Commonwealth Parliamentarians with Disabilities (CPwD) Africa Region Conference was held in Nairobi from 14th to 18th October, 2021. The Conference, which was hosted by the Parliament of Kenya in collaboration with the Commonwealth Parliamentarians with Disabilities (CPwD) Network, brought together Members of Parliament from Kenya, Sierre Leone, South Africa, Uganda and Tanzania.

NHIF to Senate Health Committee: Covering COVID-19 Costs Untenable due to Huge Financial Outlook.1

NAIROBI, 13 October – The Senate Committee on Health has today heard that the NHIF has not
been able to undertake the costs related to COVID-19 management for the current scheme
members due to the enormous financial outlay that would be required.
In a meeting presided by Committee Vice-chair, Sen Mary Seneta and the NHIF led by CEO Dr
Peter Kamunyo, the latter also noted that inasmuch as pandemics aren’t covered in the NHIF
model of operation, the Fund conducts modelling to evaluate possible value addition that they
may offer members.
