Kenya’s Parliament men’s volleyball team secured a well deserved victory on Thursday, after hammering the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) team 3-1 in a tense showdown during the 14th Edition of the EAC Interparliamentary Games in Mombasa County.

The moving match, hosted at the prestigious Aga Khan Academy drew an enthusiastic crowd including EALA Speaker Rt. Hon. Joseph Ntakirutimana. The Kenyan squad cheered on by passionate fans who packed the gym, displayed remarkable game proving why they are a force to reckon with.

The game got off to a tense start, with the EALA lawmakers snatching the first set 25-23 after a series of spectacular rallies. But the Kenyan team, undeterred by the initial setback stormed back into the second set with all guns blazing. With powerful spikes, impenetrable blocks and hard serves, Kenya crushed their opponents 25-12 leaving no doubt about their intent.

Momentum firmly on their side, the Kenyan legislators dominated the third set, finishing with a commanding 25-19 scoreline. The fourth set was a hard-fought battle, but Kenya’s unrelenting energy and tactical brilliance sealed the deal at 25-20 clinching the match and sending the home crowd into jubilant celebrations.

Despite the competitive spirit on display, both teams embraced the spirit of regional unity and integration. Players and fans joined together in song and dance after the final whistle demonstrating the friendship that defines the EAC games.

With this victory, Kenya’s volleyball team has secured three wins out of four matches having defeated Uganda and Burundi earlier in the tournament. Their only loss came in a tight clash with Tanzania. As the games enter Day 7, Kenya’s lawmakers remain strong contenders for the tournament’s ultimate prize.
