The Kenyan male legislators have surged ahead in the ongoing East African Community Inter-Parliamentary Games Golf Tournament. With one round remaining, Kenya holds a commanding lead with an aggregate score of 274 points.

Out of this, 131 points were garnered in round 1 on Tuesday, while round 2 played today saw the Kenyan team garner 143.Β  Uganda Parliament follows closely with 238 points, while Tanzania is in third place with 111 points.

On the women's side, Uganda has taken the early lead with 252 points, while Tanzania is in second place with 94 points.

Turning to individual Performances, Machakos legislator Hon. Caleb Mule ranks first in the Kenyan team and second overall with 71 points, while Hon. Mary Maingi (Mwea) is the top-ranked female player and third overall with 68 points. She is closely followed by the team's captain, Hon. Mugambi Rindikiri who posted an impressive 67.

The players today braved heavy downpour at the Nyali Golf Club to tee off at 7amΒ  with the rains causing intermittent interludes.

The competition however continued after the rains subsided.

The teams which were pooled to play either a 3-ball or a 4-ball saw legislators drawn from various legislatures pooled together in the true spirit of the East African Community perharps in a bid to enhance the deepening, widening and fostering relations within the policy makers.

Today competition drew participation from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, South Sudan and EALA.

The final round of the tournament sponsored by Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) will be played on Monday next week.
