The Kenya Bunge basketball team has earned a headstart at the ongoing East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) Games in Mombasa, thanks to a walkover victory in their opening match on Tuesday.

The team was awarded a 3-point win after South Sudan failed to show up for the scheduled match, giving the Kenyan side a confident boost ahead of their next challenge.

Under the leadership of Konoin MP, Brighton Yegon, the team is preparing for their second game on Wednesday at 4 PM, where they will face off against Uganda.

The anticipation is high, as Kenya looks to build on their early success and strengthen their chances in the tournament.

Bungoma Senator Hon.David Wakoli, a key player for the Kenyan team, has expressed optimism about their chances of winning the tournament.

"We are confident and focused our goal is clear to bring home the gold medal and show the region that Kenya is a force to be reckoned with in basketball." he said.

Speaking after the team was awarded the walkover Kenyan head coach Zadock said that the team has prepared extensively in readiness for the games.

"We’ve been training intensively for months, focusing on both our physical fitness and tactical approach, the players have shown great commitment, and I believe we are well-equipped to tackle the challenges that lie ahead, especially against teams like Uganda." He said.

Coach Zadock also praised the mental resilience of his players, noting that staying focused and composed will be crucial as they progress through the tournament.

"The team’s mental strength is just as important as their physical skills, We have worked on maintaining a winning mindset, and I am confident that we can achieve our goal of securing the gold medal if we stick to our strategy and work as one unit." he said.

As the team readies itself for the tough battle against Uganda, the players remain united and determined, fueled by the support of their fans and the desire to represent Kenya with pride in the fourteenth annual sports that are aimed at strengthening, deepening, widening and tightening the East African community.
