Following the Swearing in Ceremony of the IEBC Selection Panel Members at the Supreme Court before the Chief Justice last week, the first order of business according to law, is the Election of the Chair and Vice Chair.

Today, the IEBC Selection Panel Members conducted elections to elect their Chairperson and Vice Chairperson.

Dr. Nelson Makanda was elected as the Chairperson while Ms. Charity Kisotu was elected as the Vice Chairperson. Both were elected unopposed.

During the meeting, Members were also taken through their mandate and roles by the Deputy Clerk Mr Jeremiah Ndombi and his able Secretariat.

"I want to assure Kenyans that the Panel will now place advertisements in the local dailies for the vacant positions of IEBC Commissioners this week as required by the law. I therefore want to take this opportunity to urge Kenyans to access the advertisements for the vacancies and send their applications to the panel as will be directed" stated the Chairperson.

Dr. Makanda further assured applicants that the exercise will be transparent, free and fair to all.

"We will keep the Country updated on the progress of this very important process" concluded Dr. Makanda.
