Three Cabinet Secretaries and several Principal Secretaries appeared before the Senate Committee on Labour and Social Welfare, chaired by Sen Julius Murgor (West Pokot), to discuss the 2025 Budget Policy Statement (BPS) and the Medium-Term Debt Management Strategy, warning that budgetary constraints could significantly impact key government programmes.

The Controller of Budget, FCPA Dr. Margaret Nyakang’o has recommended that the National Treasury should adopt prudent strategies focused on debt management and revenue collection reforms to prevent more profound financial instability.

Legislators have rallied behind the National Police Service Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2024, which seeks to improve the mental wellness of police officers through the establishment of psychosocial support centers.

Members of Parliament have called for immediate government intervention following the massacre of more than 20 fishermen in Todonyang, Turkana County, by suspected militia. The attack which took place on February 22, 2025 has left several individuals still missing and residents fearing further violence.
