The National Assembly has received a message from the President nominating Mr. Kosiom Frank ole Kibelekenya for appointment as Ambassador to Copenhagen, Kingdom of Denmark.

In a communication delivered to the House, the Speaker announced that the nomination was made pursuant to Article 132(2)(e) of the Constitution of Kenya, read together with Sections 20(2) and 22(2)(a) of the Foreign Service Act (Cap. 185E).

Governor Johnson Sakaja has defended Nairobi City County’s cooperation with the national government, calling it a strategic, specialized cooperation meant to enhance service delivery to the city residents. 

Appearing before the Senate Standing Committee on Devolution and Intergovernmental Relations earlier today to address the Senators’ concerns regarding the agreement, Governor Sakaja framed the partnership as a pragmatic solution to the city’s unique status as a diplomatic hub and the seat of national power.

The Speaker of the National Assembly on Wednesday, 18th February 2026 communicated the formal withdrawal of the National Transport and Safety Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2024, following a request from its sponsor, Hon. (Eng.) John Kiragu Chege, the Member for Limuru Constituency.

𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐄 𝐖𝐄𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐒 "𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐔𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐀𝐋" 𝐏𝐄𝐓𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐓𝐎 𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐙𝐄𝐍𝐒 𝐏𝐎𝐖𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐎 𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐓

The Senate Justice, Legal Affairs, and Human Rights Committee (JLAHRC), chaired by Senator Wakili Hilary Sigei, convened to consider a petition by Laban Omusundi seeking a legal framework for the direct citizen-led recall of the President and Governors. Omusundi, an active petitioner from Nakuru, argues that while the Constitution allows the recall of MPs and MCAs, the lack of a similar mechanism for the executive branch entrenches impunity.

The Government has stepped up efforts to promote fair, transparent and responsible digital lending, with the National Treasury outlining a raft of regulatory and policy measures designed to shield Kenyans from exploitation and curb predatory practices in the fast growing credit market.

 

Appearing before the Senate, Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning, John Mbadi detailed the interventions in response to questions raised by Sen Prof Tom Ojienda (Kisumu) and posed on his behalf by Sen Wafula Wakoli (Bungoma).
