Newly sworn-in Members of the National Assembly today began a two-day induction programme aimed at building the capacity and equipping legislators with the information and tools required to effectively discharge their constitutional roles.
The lawmakers; Hon. Ahmed Maalim Hassan (Banissa), Hon. Boyd Were Ongondo (Kasipul), Hon. David Athman Ndakwa (Malava), Hon. Leo Wa Muthende Njeru (Mbeere North) and Hon. Moses Okoth Omondi (Ugunja) were sworn in on December 2nd , 2025.
The induction workshop, taking place in Nairobi County on 8th and 9th December, 2025, was officially opened by the Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly, Mrs. Serah Kioko.
The Deputy Clerk congratulated the new Members on their election and reaffirmed the commitment of the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) to supporting their work.
โLeading effectively is a challenging task,โ she said. โAs the Parliamentary Service Commission, we have assembled everything within our capacity to equip Members with the tools necessary to execute their roles.โ
โThis programme is both your orientation and induction,โ Mrs. Kioko pointed out. โWe will introduce you to the facilities and services available to facilitate your work as elected representatives in fulfilling your constitutional mandates to legislate, to oversight, and to represent.โ
The comprehensive induction covers key thematic areas including the Foundations of the Parliamentary mandate, Constituency Office Administration and Management, Rules of Procedure, and Legislative Instruments and Processes.
The programme is part of efforts by the National Assembly to ensure that all newly elected and returning Members are well-prepared to effectively undertake legislative work, oversight, and representation of their constituents.
