Senate holds Inaugural Plenary Sittings in Kitui County Assembly

As the Senate convened for its first sitting in the Kitui County Assembly under what’s been dubbed ‘Senate Mashinani’, the Speaker of the Senate, Rt Hon Kenneth Lusaka, while presiding over the plenary, termed the initiative an innovative way of bringing the Senate closer to the people both functionally and symbolically.

Pursuant to Article 126(1) that states that a sitting of either House may be held at any place within Kenya and may commence at any time that the House appoints, the Senate on 13th June, 2019, resolved that the Senate holds its plenary and committee sittings in Kitui County from 16th to 20th September, 2019.  The resolution to hold a sitting of the Senate outside Nairobi was made with the following specific

New Chinese envoy to Kenya calls on Senate Speaker

The Speaker of the Senate, Rt Hon Kenneth Lusaka today met the new Chinese Ambassador to Kenya, HE Amb Wu Peng who called on him at Parliament Buildings.

In welcoming Amb Peng, who officially began his tour of duty in April, Speaker Lusaka assured him of the Senate’s support in deepening Kenya-China relations.

Kenya and Hungary Seek to Entrench Closer Relations.

The Speaker of the National Assembly   of Hungary  H.E. László Kövér, has invited Kenya to strongly consider opening an embassy in Budapest, Hungary, as an entry point to serve Kenya’s interest in East and Central Europe. His call comes amid flourishing relations between Bucharest and Nairobi, which have gained momentum in the last few months, culminating to yesterday's state visit by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon.Justin Muturi. The inaugural Africa Parliamentary Researchers Conference

The inaugural African Parliamentary Researchers Conference brings together research officers serving in Parliaments in Africa at both the national and sub-national levels.  Invitation to the Conference is open to Researchers serving in National Parliaments and in State, Provincial or County Legislatures as well as other interested research institutions, local Universities and individual researchers.
