Indian High Commissioner pays a courtesy call on Speaker Lusaka

Senate Speaker Sen Kenneth Lusaka today met HE Suchitra Durai, the High Commissioner of India to Kenya who called on him at his Parliament Buildings Office.

At the meeting, Speaker Lusaka told the High Commissioner that there was need for Kenya and India to deepen cooperation especially on health and capacity development.

“India has enjoyed a lot of medical tourism from the Kenyan people – with focus being on treatment using modern medicine. I however believe that Kenya can learn a lot from India on traditional medicine,” observed the Senate Speaker.

Speaker Lusaka: Government Committed to Root out Corruption

The Speaker of Senate, Sen Kenneth Lusaka today presented a paper on efforts by the Kenyan Government toward combating corruption. He was speaking at the 7th Session of the Conference of State Parties to the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) in Vienna, Austria.

The Election Laws (Amendment) Bill, National Assembly Bills No. 39 of 2017 was read a First Time on Wednesday, 11th October, 2017 and committed to the Senate Ad Hoc Committee on Election Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2017 for consideration pursuant to standing order 134 of the Senate Standing Orders.

Speaker Lusaka Assures Women Senators of Support

The Speaker of Senate, Sen Kenneth Lusaka today held a meeting with China’s Ambassador to Kenya, H. E. Dr. Liu Xianfa. The Chinese Ambassador had paid a courtesy call to the Speaker at Parliament Buildings and expressed his country’s desire to continue working with the Senate. The Speaker noted that Kenya and China enjoyed a cordial relationship citing the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
