The Senate Standing Committee on Agriculture and Livestock, chaired by Kirinyaga County Sen. James Kamau Murango received submissions on Tea (Amendment) Bill, 2023 at Sosiot Girls High School, Kericho County. The committee paid a courtesy call to the Kericho County Governor Eric Kipkoech Mutai and deliberated on issues affecting Tea farmers In Kericho County.

The National Assembly Committee on Administration and Internal Affairs has conducted a fact-finding visit to Shakahola area in Kilifi County  to establish facts and circumstances surrounding the mass killings of people in incident allegedly linked to a religious cult associated with Good News International Church.

A Parliamentary Committee is reviewing  interest in a proposed draft legislation, that seeks to align the law governing dealings in agricultural land with the provisions of the Kenyan Constitution of 2010, the Environment and Land Court Act of 2011, the Land Registration Act of 2012, and the Land Act of 2012.

SPORTS AND CULTURE COMMITTEE HEARS THE PLIGHT OF MUSICIANS

The National Assembly's Sports and Culture Committee, chaired by Hon. Daniel Wanyama, convened a meeting with musicians and performers from across the country. The objective of the meeting was to receive submissions from the musicians regarding their concerns about industry regulator Kenya Copyright Board (KECOBO).

HOUSE UNANIMOUSLY APPROVES MELLY FOR APPOINTMENT AS SRC COMMISSIONER.

The National Assembly has unanimously approved Mr.  Isaac Kipkemboi Melly for appointment as a Commissioner in the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC). This was after the House debated a Report by the
Committee on Labour chaired by Hon. Eric Muchangi on the vetting of the nominee.

The Report indicated that Mr. Melly was eligible for the appointment to the State Office as he is a Kenyan citizen born in Uasin Gishu County, holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration, a Bachelor of Business Management, and a Diploma in Business Management.
