House approves Bill in record time to unlock Kshs. 370 billion funding to Counties

The National Assembly, Tuesday, October 06, 2020, passed the County Allocation of Revenue Bill, 2020. The Bill was referred to the National Assembly on Thursday last week from the Senate.

Schools are Ready to Re-open Professor Magoha tells Parliamentary Committee

The Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Education and Research, Professor George Magoha,  confirmed to the Members of National Assembly on Wednesday, that the government is ready to re-open learning institutions, after more than six months of closure. The Cabinet Secretary who was appearing before the Departmental Committee on Education and Research, reiterated the commitment of the Ministry to ensure that learners do not miss a calendar year.

Speaker directs Committees to Prioritise Private Members' Bills

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Justin Muturi has this afternoon directed Chairpersons of Committees with pending legislative proposals to prioritise their consideration, before the end of the current Fourth Session.

Noting that the Bills are at risk of lapsing upon the expiry of the session in December this year, Speaker Muturi noted that once Committees prioritise them, the House Business Committee would consequently rank them among the top House business thus allowing the House to dispense with them in good time.

Speaker slams brakes on House Committee efforts to arbitrate TSC-KNUT dispute

The Departmental Committee on Education and Research has been directed to refrain from revisiting the current disputes between the TSC and KNUT until they are determined by the Courts.

In a long-winded guidance issued through his Communication to the House this afternoon, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Justin Muturi once again called on the Members who represent Special Interests to always declare interests when considering the said interests in the House and its Committees in accordance with the Standing Orders.
