Course Overview

The 5-day programme is designed to develop the coaching and mentoring skills for HR Professionals to enable them support the growth and development of other employees in their institutions. The course will focus on the needs of a strategic HR function by helping the participants learn how to coach and mentor effectively using various models, techniques, and tools. The primary aim of the course is to give a clear insight and understanding of the dynamics that take place between people when they work on a one –to-one basis.

Course Rationale

A key role of a Human Resource Professional is to ensure right and competent people are assigned roles and they are performing at their best potential.  HR professionals are the core of any organization and its success.  As HR professionals it is essential to improve employee performance on a continuous basis and the best way to do this is through coaching and mentoring. This training prepares the HR professionals with the necessary skills to be an effective coach and mentor. 

Globally, coaching and mentoring is recognized as key to growth and success of an institution.  This programme is designed to focus on effective coaching and mentoring model.

At the end of this course the participants will be able to

  • Discuss the benefits of coaching and mentoring for different Human Resource Management Stakeholders.
  • Discuss  the steps of coaching model and how to hold a coaching and mentoring session;
  • Discuss the principles, skills and impact of coaching and mentoring
  • Apply suitable tools, models or methodology in their role.

The target group for this course is HR officers working at the lower, middle and top level management in county assemblies.
