The Members of the National Assembly have wrapped up their week-long Induction Workshop.

The pinnacle of this very comprehensive and elaborate Induction programme, was a Gala Dinner for the Members of the 12th Parliament and their spouses. hosted by the Speaker of the National Assembly Hon. Justin Muturi at the InterContinental Hotel Nairobi.

At hand to treat the Members and their spouses to some sumptuous tunes was the adept Parliament Choir.

A panel comprising of an array of invited distinguished Speakers shared their experiences with Members at the gala dinner- a richly-themed Family Session- they included Hon. Amina Abdalla (On 'My Experience as an MP'), Mrs. Jackline Kiaraho ( 'My Experience as a Spouse to an MP'), the Clerk Emeritus, Mr. Justin Bundi ( 'Working with a Politician'- the Perspective of a Former Clerk) , and Mrs. Michelle Karume (A New Beginning:' Fame and Social Life'-Striking a Balance).

The now rejuvenated House resumes normal business on Tuesday 26th September.

 

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Justin Muturi, has today launched a week-long Induction Workshop for the Members of the National Assembly at the Intercontinental Hotel, Nairobi.

The induction Workshop themed " Setting the Stage for the 12th Parliament: Preparing for a smooth take-off " kicked off today and ends on Friday , September 22, 2017.

Noting that the 12th Parliament has the onerous and honourable task of translating the aspirations of the Kenyan Citizentry into realities , Speaker Muturi called upon the new House to " consolidate our democratic gains and steer the Nation towards economic growth and Social Development ".

Speaker Muturi promised to implement a paperless system in the House and urged Members to equip themselves with the necessary ICT skills for this purpose.

The Members are expected to not only interact amongst themselves for the purpose of embracing team work, but will also be taken through the Legislation Process, House Practices and Procedures and Operations of Parliament. Members will also have a session on "The strategies on how to achieve work-life balance" given the societal expectations and demands placed on the Office of an MP.
