The Senate Committee on Information, Communication and Technology has urged Governors to adopt county laws and regulations that govern own-source revenue collection and management.  

 

This comes after the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA) informed the Senators that most counties don’t have the requisite legal and regulatory policy framework that administer their revenue collection and management.

This morning, the two Speakers of the Houses of Parliament, the Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Moses Wetang’ula (National Assembly), the Rt. Hon. Amason Kingi (Senate) witnessed as His Excellency the President, Dr. William Ruto, CGH assented to the Affordable Housing Bill (National Assembly) Bill 75 of 2023.

𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐄 𝐔𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐋𝐃𝐒 𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐄𝐀𝐂𝐇𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐎𝐅 𝐊𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐈 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐓𝐘 𝐃𝐄𝐏𝐔𝐓𝐘 𝐆𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐍𝐎𝐑

In a decisive move, the Senate has voted to remove Kisii Deputy Governor Dr Robert Monda from office over a series of grave misconduct allegations. The impeachment followed voting by Senators, who upheld all four charges levelled against Monda: gross violation of the Constitution or law, abuse of office, gross misconduct and crimes under national law.

The County Public Accounts Committee (CPAC) has said the Office of the Auditor General has been steadfast in promoting accountability and transparency in the utilisation of public funds.

 

However, the Chair of the committee Moses Kajwang said Parliament has not been as steadfast in considering the reports of the Auditor General which will ensure increased funding to counties.
